About Me:

My name is Evelyn DeJesús. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I moved to Las Vegas when I was 22 and worked in Property Management for 13 years. In 1999 I met my husband Jim and we had our daughter Alexis in 2004. In 2007, Jim mentioned a career opportunity in Nashville, TN. At first I refused to engage in a conversation about moving away from family, but when I realized his new position would afford me the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom, I changed my tune. (Dropping her off at daycare for 9 hours a day was killing me!)
How I got into Face Painting -
It was 2012 and my daughter had just had her face painted as a tiger at a local Halloween event; I was amazed at just how happy it made her. She has always had a wild imagination. She would pretend she was a dog, a cat, a horse, a guinea pig, etc., and practically lived on all fours. She was speech-delayed... but she could bark, growl, howl, meow and neigh with the best of them. If she wasn’t pretending to be an animal, she was a superhero or cowboy, saving the world from all the bad-guys and bandits. She wore masks and costumes almost every day and loved living in her own little world... but when her face was painted that day - WOW!, she was in heaven! The joy on her face when she looked in the mirror was priceless! I had never seen her happier! Her excitement inspired me to buy a set of face paints for us to use at home. I have always been fairly artistic and figured ‘How hard can it be?’. Well, it turned out to be much harder than I had anticipated, but I was determined to learn. Once I began to research the industry, I became obsessed with everything face-paint related. Now that Lexi was older, I was ready to start working again. I knew that I only wanted to work part time (so that I could still drop her off at, and pick her up from school), and needed flexibility (so I could still go on school trips and be home during school breaks). My new love for face painting and my life-long love for children had me wondering if I could actually make a living doing something I enjoy. One thing led to another, and here I am - ready to put a smile on YOUR child’s face.
